Opening the tool

There are two ways to open BUPA AnimPos:

  • Type the command /animpos in chat.
  • Press the keybind (default F6, rebindable in the GTA V settings under Key Bindings).

On open, the script runs its checks — already-in-use, cooldown, permission, state restrictions and the Config.CanUse hook — before entering positioning mode. If any check fails, you receive a notification explaining why and the tool does not open.

While positioning is active the character is frozen and rendered semi-transparent so you can clearly see where it will land, and an on-screen control panel is shown.

Controls

Action Default key Description
Move forward W Move the character forward along its facing direction
Move backward S Move the character backward
Move left Left Arrow Strafe the character left
Move right Right Arrow Strafe the character right
Move up Up Arrow Increase height
Move down Down Arrow Decrease height
Rotate left Q Rotate the character's heading left
Rotate right E Rotate the character's heading right
Precision (hold) Left Shift Slow movement & rotation for fine adjustments
Reset R Snap back to the starting position and heading
Confirm Enter Lock in the current position and exit
Cancel Esc Discard changes and return to the start

Hold Left Shift while moving or rotating to apply the precision multiplier (default 25% speed) for millimetre-perfect placement.

Confirm vs cancel

  • Confirm (Enter) — accepts the new position. The character's alpha is reset to normal, the final coordinates and heading are synced to nearby players, and the tool closes. The character remains frozen at the confirmed spot.
  • Cancel (Esc) — discards all changes. The character is returned to its original position and heading, alpha is reset and it is unfrozen. Two alternative cancel keys are also bound in the config for controller/layout flexibility.

Limits & guard rails

  • Max distance — if you move beyond Config.Movement.MaxDistance (default 5.0 m) from the start, the tool returns you to the starting position and closes with a warning.
  • Height limits — reaching the configured maximum or minimum height cancels positioning and restores the start position.
  • Cooldown — after closing, the tool enforces Config.Cooldown (default 15 s) before it can be opened again.
